INSIDE with Meghan Wallace James.

Meghan Wallace James
I am delighted to introduce Meghan Wallace-James, the creator of a magical Feng Shui and manifestation blend, as an Insider at THE THREAD JOURNAL – an individual who embodies a connection to their surroundings at home and in their work.
I am fascinated by Meghan’s contemporary interpretation the ancient, scientific art form of Feng Shui, that originated in China thousands of years ago. Meghan sees our space as a vision board or an outer manifestation of our inner world, and vice versa.
The practical qualities of Feng Shui include organisation, clarity, balance and harmony which, in turn create flow in our homes and our lives – the ultimate aim of Feng Shui.
Meghan uses a Western Bagua map (pictured below), with the front door as a point of orientation. The map divides the home into nine equal ‘guas’ or zones, each with their own energy, colour and material element.
I asked Meghan about her connection to ‘sacred space’ on a personal level and how a soul connection to surroundings helps her work…
Describe who you are and what you do.

I am a woman most passionate about the energetic and aesthetic metaphors of space, sex and style. I can see blocks and I live to open paths to flow

My work makes me high on life and it makes my clients soar – a massive cosmic fast forward.

What led you on your path?

I grew up in a Victorian home under constant renovation. Years later I would move to Los Angeles and begin renovating a 1920s home… the chaos of childhood came flooding back and I asked: “What is a better way to do this?” That’s when I discovered Feng Shui.

What drew you to Feng Shui?

Feng Shui gave me a name for the way I navigate space; it met my innate comprehension and paired it with ancient science. Feng Shui could not be cooler.

What are the most important things to consider when moving into a new home?

Intuition / emotion / beauty / an address that is fun to say / a floor plan more symmetrical than asymmetrical / a welcoming yet safe entrance / loads of life!

Where would you advise a Feng Shui beginner to start?

1. Get on your hands and knees and deep clean your home.

2. Turn on your Love Corner – the most back, most right corner, upon entering your front door – with sensuality, duality and the element of earth. (See Bagua map below).

3. Take evening strolls in your neighborhood and learn to commune with homes; they will teach you what you need to know.

Where is home for you?

Home is where my young sons live, so Los Angeles at the moment.

How would you describe your home?

Our home is a petite serene nest that has been activated to take us up and out in divine right timing; I trust it will tell me when we are ready to fly. No lateral moves. Big Love. Big Money.

This home has completely reset my take on modern luxury; I now believe that living below your means is crazy chic and quite freeing.

What does homecoming mean to you?

Deep Exhale.

Do you have a sacred space or favourite place in your home?

I just switched my bedroom – after taking my online class Sex Ed for Adults – and it has opened up so much juicy energy in my space. The home feels new to us. We are hosting more than ever before, filling our space with laughter, great cocktails and my sons’ homegrown indoor soccer league. I am positive my neighbors appreciate it all.

How does the ethos of your sacred space play a part in your work?

Intentionality is Everything.

Feng Shui is consciousness manifested outward into the material world.

What practices or rituals do you carry out in your home or ‘sacred space’?

I’m a total neat freak, thus cleaning is how I worship my temple. Also, the Great Bedroom Switch of 2019 somehow inspired a return to altar building. The boys and I have two altars we are loving on – one for mama, one for brothers. I have been a hardcore minimalist for years, so gentle layers of completely unnecessary stuff {or is it?!} has been medicinal.

What are your home aspirations?

I aspire towards owning a jewel box of a home surrounded by nature, with a gorgeous musical man in my bed, and a ballet bar in my living room.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

ROME. Ciao!
