TAURUS SEASON interiors – how to create a tactile and nourishing home.

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”

Rachel Carson

Taurus season is very much here!
After a sparky start to the new astrological year courtesy of Aries season, Taurus grounds and nourishes seeds of inspiration with its earthy practicality. It is a good time to gently germinate sparks of creativity; feeding and watering seeds into fully formed ideas that burst forth and bloom.
The fixed nature of earth sign Taurus makes stability, foundations and home the priority.
With Taurus as my moon sign (the part of our birth chart that reveals our inner world), Taurus season always feels to me, a bit like coming home.

Strong foundations.

Taurus is symbolised by the bull, its characteristic persistence means that it is the provider of the zodiac; it values hard work, seeks security and an enjoyment of earthly pleasures.

Taurus is ruled by the earth element and so a Taurus space has a deep-rooted, sturdy foundation that is built to last. A structure built from durable, tactile materials, softened with a layer of homely comfort.

Root down with earthy neutrals.

We can create an earth-bound sense of safety at home using warming neutrals from sandy tones and baked terracotta with golden undertones, paired with strong yet understated hues like turmeric, burnished copper and olive green.

A restful sanctuary.

Taureans thrive on hard work but also need and value deep rest.

A calm haven is a key part of a Taurus home, taking shape in the form of a personal sanctuary centred around a comfortable bed, laden with textiles woven from natural fibres.

Below is our bedroom at home where we have incorporated a lot of natural materials and calming colours. The headboard is linen, our bedding is cotton (the crisp kind, though never actually ironed!) and the carpet is a looped wool.

Taste & texture.

As well as touch, tactility and texture; taste plays an important role in Taurus’ sensory experience of life.

Nourishment of our physical bodies is strongly connected to the earth element. As such, another key aspect of a Taurean interior is a dedicated space for intentional cooking and dining. Based around a kitchen table, Taurus season invites us to prepare and savour soul foods, contained in tactile hand-crafted vessels.

Beautiful & useful.

Earthly goods and resources allow Taurus to feel supported, meaning that each piece within a Taurean interior is chosen for its useful practicality or its timeless beauty.
